- W1971009634 abstract "Within health settings, there is increasing recognition that interprofessional education and practice are essential components of effective therapy and rehabilitation. Interprofessional clinical reasoning, using cognitive mapping, has previously been promoted as a means of exploring theory and practice. However, this may be confounded by adherence to traditional professional models that conceptualize behaviour in mutually exclusive ways. This article offers complexity theory as an appropriate model for understanding client behaviour and for solving a problem. Behaviour is the result of weighted influences, where the weighting is variable depending on experience and the success of previous behaviours. No assumed priority is given to any aspect of behaviour and interprofessional reasoning is explored as each profession makes explicit the knowledge and practice base used to understand the weighting of each influence. All evidence can be considered, embracing different research models and professional reasoning, promoting reasoning based on the strength of evidence without an assumed hierarchy of information." @default.
