- W1971016854 abstract "Nuclear pores were studied in Jerusalem artichoke ( Helianthus tuberoses ), Broad bean ( Vicia faba ), Yeast ( Saccharomyces cerevisiae ), and the alga ( Chlorella pyrenoidosa ) using the freeze-fracture technique. Nuclear pores present four main images in freeze-fracture, two of which are characteristic of A faces and two of B faces. An explanation of these images is given through a fracture scheme showing how nuclear pores usually fracture in one of two ways. This scheme is tested against the expected measurements and compared with data from thin-sectioning. Other appearances of fractured pores can also be understood in relation to the same scheme, those in membranes at steep angles to the fracture plane showing the greatest modifications. There is no evidence that the annulus influences the path of the fracture. These results are discussed." @default.
