- W1971162895 abstract "In the 1950s, most women who had pregnancies at or after age 35 were having their last baby. Fifty years later, this is becoming more and more common. Preliminary data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for births in 2001 reported that “birth rates for women 30 years of age and over was the highest in three decades.” In providing competent care for pregnant women aged 35 and older, nurses have many new issues to consider—some of which are unique to the social, genetic and environmental factors in a woman's life. By considering all these factors, nurses who engage in preconceptional counseling with the women aged 35 and older can provide information and education to increase a woman's chances of conceiving and carrying a healthy pregnancy and baby to term." @default.
