- W1972020710 abstract "One of key challenges in deploying large-scale Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is system longevity. Various approaches have been investigated to extend system lifetime. In this paper, we are proposing a sustainable mobile sensor network as a way to extend system lifetime. The SMSN (Sustainable Mobile Sensor Network) system model consists of mobile sensor nodes and sparsely deployed energy stations. The mobile sensor nodes visit remote energy station to recharge battery when node's energy drains below a threshold level. Our contribution is two-fold: developing a simulation model for the SMSN and conducting a performance study using the SMSN simulation model. The simulation results show the advantages of the SMSN over the existing energy-aware approaches. The simulation model and results provide a foundation for further study and design space exploration for large-scale sustainable sensor network." @default.
