- W1972248052 abstract "To study antioxidant activity of components from the leaves of Pelargonium graveolens (Geraniaceae), intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) measurement was investigated by using a fluorescent probe, DCFH-DA [1]. The ethyl acetate extract of P. graveolens was found to exhibit protective effects (94.0% inhibition) against hydroxyradical-induced oxidative damage to HT-29 colon cancer cells. Activity-guided fractionation of the ethyl acetate extract of P. graveolens led to several compounds which structures were elucidated through the analyses of various spectroscopic methods. All isolates were biologically evaluated using an enzyme-based Elisa NF-κB assay [2]. Acknowledgements: This work was supported by OSU New Faculty Start-up Package Funds. We thank Dr. A.D. Kinghorn, Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, The Ohio State University, for providing rocaglamide and thank Dr. Laura Kresty, The Ohio State University, for providing HT-29 cells. We are also grateful to Mr. Jack Fowble, College of Pharmacy, The Ohio State University, for facilitating the use of certain NMR spectroscopic equipment used in this research.
