(2001) presented P-T-t paths and ion microprobe Th- Pb monazite age data across the Main Central thrust zone along the Darondi River valley in central Nepal. Here, the structurally lowest garnets within the Main Central thrust zone grew with increasing P and T (loading), whereas structurally higher garnets grew with increasing T but decreasing P (exhumation). Thus, in an area where structural data are less easily obtained because of inadequate exposure, metamorphic and P-T-t data convincingly show that the major structural break, the true Main Central thrust, lies along the base of the inverted metamorphic section (“Location...
