Hostplant odor had no influence on elicitation of egg-laying under our laboratory conditions. The value of these findings with respect to the design and construction of an effective artificial oviposition system, and their usefulness in providing clues as to what may be the behavior of the flies in nature are discussed. Zusammenfassung REIZE, WELCHE DIE EIABLAGE DER KIRSCHFRUCHTFLIEGE, RHAGOLETIS CERASI (DIPTERA: TEPHRITIDAE), IN LEBLOSE GEGENSTÄNDE AUSLÖSEN Die Untersuchungen ergaben, daß für die Auslösung der Eiablage der Kirschfruchtfliege, Rhagoletis cerasi L., unter Laborbedingungen einige physikalische Reize von großer Bedeutung sind. Die Befunde bestätigen zum größten Teil frühere, von Wiesmann (1937) veröffentlichte Ergebnisse. Die Eiablage wurde in höchstem Ausmaße von der Kombination folgender Merkmale künstlicher Substrate stimuliert: 1 konvexe Form; entweder als Kugel oder als eine leicht gestreckte nach oben gewölbte Halbkugel, von 2 10 mm Durchmesser 3 dunkle, gegen weißen Hintergrund kontrastierende Farbe, und 4 weiche, dünne, glatte und trockene Oberfläche. Diese Anforderungen konnten mit dünnen (Wandstärke 0,2–0,3 mm), hohlen Halbkugeln aus einem Weichceresin-Wachs erfüllt werden. Von der Wirtspflanze stammende Geruchsstoffe hatten unter Laborbedingungen keinen stimulierenden Einfluß auf die Eiablage. Die Bedeutung der Ergebnisse für Entwurf und Konstruktion einer wirkungsvollen künstlichen Eiablagevorrichtung sowie ihr Beitrag zum Verständnis der Verhaltens der Kirschfliege im Freiland werden diskutiert." @default.
