- W1972832987 abstract "Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) of methylamine (MA) on titanium dioxide in aqueous and gaseous phases was studied. A simple batch glass reactor for aqueous PCO and an annular continuous flow reactor for the gas-phase PCO were used. Maximum aqueous PCO efficiency was achieved in alkaline media. A part of the ammonia formed in the reaction was oxidized to nitrite and nitrate. Volatile PCO products of MA included ammonia, nitrogen dioxide<mml:math xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML id=E2><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mtext>NO</mml:mtext></mml:mrow><mml:mn>2</mml:mn></mml:msub></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:math>, nitrous oxide<mml:math xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML id=E3><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mtext>N</mml:mtext><mml:mn>2</mml:mn></mml:msub><mml:mtext>O</mml:mtext></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:math>, carbon dioxide, and water. Thermal catalytic oxidation (TCO) resulted in the formation of ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and water. The gas-phase PCO kinetics is described by the monomolecular Langmuir-Hinshelwood model.
