- W1973030942 abstract "A novel way of preparing Cu(100)-Ni single crystal surfaces is described. Reproducible quantities of nickel are deposited on a clean Cu(100) surface via reaction of nickel carbonyl. The chemical properties of this surface as monitored by AES and ellipsometry are investigated with respect to oxygen uptake and reduction (CO) reactions. At low Ni concentration the nickel atoms appeared to be below the first monolayer of copper atoms and are incapable of binding CO at room temperature and pressures up to 10 −3 Torr CO. At exposures up to 2500 L and at 320°C, the surface takes up more oxygen than a clean Cu(100) surface but less than clean Ni(100)." @default.
