- W1974927234 abstract "It is shown that the magnetization and the specific heat of amorphous magnets can be expressed in terms of averages of the magnetization and specific heat of small domains in which the spins are assumed to be alike. The results for the Ising and Heisenberg models with S = 12 can be compared with experiments on crystalline magnets at high temperatures where spin waves can be neglected. For the Heisenberg antiferromagnet the polarization of each spin, |〈Izl〉|, at T = 0 is less than 12. The susceptibility χ, does not follow a Curie-Weiss law except for high temperatures. The specific heat shows a sharp maximum and under certain conditions may show another broad maximum. To discuss spin glasses the results obtained for a single domain have to be averaged. The parameters to be averaged are discussed. An example for dilute magnetic alloys is considered in detail." @default.
