- W1975759434 abstract "We have observed a phenomenon in which the flow of a gas such as carbon dioxide or oxygen is blocked by a magnetic field. A magnetic curtain model has been introduced to explain this phenomenon. It is assumed that the magnetic curtain is a wall of air formed by magnetic fields. In this study, we simulated gas flows in magnetic field gradients, introducing a model based on molecular dynamics. Nitrogen, oxygen and other gas molecules are modeled as independent particles moving in a two-dimensional space. Paramagnetic oxygen is accelerated by the magnetic force determined by the product of the magnetic field and its gradient. We simulated trajectories of gas flow in magnetic field gradients at various maximum magnetic forces (f <sub xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>max</sub> ). With nitrogen gas, the gas flow is clearly disturbed at f <sub xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>max</sub> =10 <sup xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>-15</sup> N. However, in experiments the blocking of gas flow appears at f <sub xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>max</sub> =10 <sup xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>-23</sup> N. This difference may be explained by interactions between magnetic fields and the mass behavior of particles as a group." @default.
