- W1976341708 abstract "S-LVV and UPS analysis of Ti, Co, Ni, Cu, Pd was carried out for various temperatures and sulfur concentrations on the surfaces. Sulfur segregation starts at T ⩾ 500 K. The S-LVV Auger spectra do not show the characteristic shapes for these metals at sulfur concentrations of 1 to 3 at%. S-LVV-, Auger- and UPS-spectra change with temperature and concentration. These changes are discussed on the basis of the chemical interaction. The great difference between the S-LVV Auger spectra of S/Ti and those of S/Co, S/Ni, S/Cu and S/Pd is shown. The analysis of the UPS spectrum of SCu, with respect to the number of d-electrons in d-band metals, yields the following suggestion: the structure of S-LVV spectra of S/Co, S/Ni, S/Cu and S/Pd are due to splitting of the d-bands of metals in the crystals field and chemical interaction of S3p and eg2 levels." @default.
