It was based on the reaction of reducing sugars with dansyl hydrazine and their separation by reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography. Sample preparation by this method required only 15 min. Fluorescent detection provided a sensitivity of 10 pmol per injection with an excitation wavelength of 240 nm and an emission longpass wavelength of 550 nm. Alternately, absorbance at 254 nm can be used with a 100-fold drop in sensitivity. The effectiveness of this procedure for the determination of d -glucuronic acid is also discussed." @default.
