- W1976900868 abstract "Single crystalline and polycrystalline Al2O3 substrates were irradiated with intense pulses of nitrogen plasma and titanium or molybdenum vapor. Pulses with the energy density of about 5.5 J/cm2 and of duration in the microsecond range melted near-surface layer of the substrates. The structural modifications were studied. Polycrystalline samples were also subjected to tribological tests. It was found that Ti atoms undergo long-range mixing to a depth of 0.5 μm. No mixing occurs for Mo atoms. Tribological tests show improvement of the wear resistance in both cases." @default.
