The calculations were based on atomic data, observational constraints concerning electron temperatures, electron densities and flow speeds. Minor ion charge state observations were used in order to place limits on solar wind acceleration and heating mechanisms. The charge states of C, O, Fe and Si ions measured in situ were compared to those calculated from two solar wind models.
