- W1977699438 abstract "The mean cross section for the elastic scattering, and the /sup 8/Be and the ..cap alpha..-particle channels in the /sup 9/Be+ /sup 12/C system considerably exceeds the Hauser-Feshbach model predictions for the compound nucleus cross section. It is shown that the magnitude as well as the energy and angle dependence of this nonstatistical contribution to the mean cross section can be explained satisfactorily as being produced in a direct transfer reaction. One step /sup 3/He, n, and ..cap alpha.. transfer processes are adequate for the description of the /sup 9/Be and /sup 8/Be channel while a contribution of two-step sequential processes should be taken into account for the /sup 5/He and /sup 8/Be transfers in the ..cap alpha..-particle exit channel." @default.
