• W1977983478 abstract "The reviewing of dictionaries is a time-honoured praxis, but reviewers have often been criticized for only describing the design features of the dictionaries under review and not evaluating these features, for narrowing their reviews down to one or two subjectively chosen design features, and for not explicating their evaluation criteria or indicating their validity. Improving the quality of dictionary reviews is a task that has been delegated to dictionary criticism as a component of metalexicography. In this article, it is proposed that a first step in this direction would be to devise for each dictionary type a set of comprehensive, objective, valid, generally accepted, and operationalizable evaluation criteria. Die resenseer van woordeboeke is 'n gerespekteerdepraktyk, maar resensente is al dikwels daarvan beskuldig dat hulle net 'n beskrywing geevan die ontwerpkenmerke van woordeboeke onder bespreking en nie hierdie kenmerke evalueernie, dat hulle hul resensies beperk tot een of twee subjektief gekose ontwerpkenmerke en dat hullenie hulle evalueringskriteria duidelik uiteensit of hulle geldigheid aandui nie.Die verbetering van die gehalte van woordeboekresensies is 'n taak wat opgedra is aan diewoordeboekkritiek as 'n onderdeel van die metaleksikografie. In hierdie artikel word voorgesteldat 'n eerste stap in hierdie rigting sou wees om vir elke woordeboektipe 'n stel omvattende, objektiewe,geldige, algemeen aanvaarde en operasionaliseerbare evalueringskriteria te onwikkel.
