• W1978359222 abstract "The differential cross section for elastic scattering of 3.5 MeV deuterons from 14N has been analyzed using the optical-model formalism and taking account of the compound elastic contribution in a consistent way. The analysis was conducted over a broad range of parameter space, and several distinct families were discovered. Representative sets from each of these families were used to provide initial state wave functions for DWBA calculations of the 14N(d, no)15O (g.s.) reaction. The results of the calculations are correlated with the families from which the particular sets were drawn. The calculations are compared to experimental cross section and polarization data and spectroscopic factors are extracted. The best agreement with the experimental results occurs for sets in a family which has a representative member with a real well depth of 100 MeV and a real well radius of 1.6 A13 fm. Calculational sensitivities of the DWBA to parameter variation are investigated to provide a critique of the assumptions used in the 14N(d, n) work, as well as to provide insight into some features of (d, n) reactions for neighboring nuclei." @default.
