- W1978392603 abstract "Thirty-seven foreskin preparations obtained during routine circumcisions were investigated with the combined skin-splitting and dopa techniques. At birth, melanin pigmentation was present in various degrees. The color of the epidermis varied from very dark brown to very pale in this region of the body which had not yet been exposed to visible or to ultraviolet light for any length of time. The topography of the dermoepidermal junction varied from smooth (mostly in the lightly colored samples) to extremely hilly (characteristic for the darker samples). In 15 specimens 45 dark. 5 medium colored, and 5 macroscopically unpigmented), the frequency population of melanocytes was estimated and no significant difference was found in melanocyte number. There was also no statistically significant difference in the melanocyte frequency when we compared the data obtained from newborn foreskin with that from the adult." @default.
