It has been shown from the dependences of their relative intensities on the stagnation conditions that these ions are mainly formed through the fragmentation of the dimer ions. The MH+ ion plays the most important role in these fragmentation processes of the dimers, while no dimer ion M2+ was observed. These results are discussed in terms of the enthalpy changes for the unimolecular decomposition reactions of M2+." @default.
