- W1978519817 abstract "Abstract Many accurate and useful methods had been presented to study platelet behaviour in vitro and these have led to the discovery of a great number of compounds capable of altering platelet reactivity. At the same time, the mechanism by which many of the in vivo techniques used to produce endothelial injury and formation of thrombi is not similar to that encountered in thromboembolic disease in man. Of the “injury methods” the electrically induced and the biolaser-produced thromboembolisms are the most adequate methods at present because the degree of injury can be reproducibly controlled. By the use of these methods, the effect of drugs on the process can be quantitated. The main disadvantage of the electrically induced methods is that the injury, contrary to the human disease, is not intraluminal." @default.
