In cats anesthetized with chloralose, increases of the arterial pressure induced by epinephrin, vasopressin or by clamping of the abdominal aorta, elicit hyperpolarization of the afferent endings in the cuneate nucleus. This hyperpolarization can be detected by a decrease in amplitude of the antidromic potential recorded from the superficial radial nerve following stimulation of the cuneate nucleus. Coagulation of the area postrema prevents this action; instead, increase in amplitude of the antidromic response may sometimes occur." @default.
