- W198119635 abstract "We collected a large set of eye movements with video clips of natural scenes. Two different algorithms were used to derive fixation maps. From these maps, we extracted n = 1;:::; 20 regions that were fixated most frequently. For each video frame, we then counted how many fixations fell within these regions. Our results indicate that, depending on the video, a single (n = 1) circular region per frame with a diameter of about 2.2° can predict 8% to 31% of all fixations. In some single frames or ”hot spots”, up to around 60% of all subjects look at the same region. Methods High-resolution video sequences from natural outdoor scenes in and around L ¨ ubeck were taken with a JVC HY-HD10 video camera. Videos had 1280x720 pixels (HDTV standard) spatial and 30 Hz temporal resolution and were displayed at a visual angle of 48°x27°. 59 subjects watched 18 different videos of approximately 20s duration each while gaze data was collected by an EyeLink II eye tracking system running at 250 Hz. After discarding those trials where less than 95% of all samples were valid, we could analyse 950 trials with about 45,000 saccades. We used the collected eye movement data to create fixation maps for each video frame by two different algorithms. From these fixation maps, we extracted the n = 1;:::; 20 regions that were fixated most frequently." @default.
