- W1982044807 abstract "A three dimensional large deformation nonlinear static model for marine risers with cross sections of equal principal stiffnesses is used to investigate the significance of structural and loading nonlinearities in static riser deflection. Extensibility, torsion, deformation dependent loads, follower force effects due to pressure forces, and deformation dependent boundary conditions are included in the model. Systematic analysis using numerical applications is performed to assess quantitatively the effects of water depth, top tension, hydrodynamic load profile, offset of the upper end of the riser, extensibility of the riser material, torsion, planar and three dimensional static loading and deflection, and dependency of the hydrodynamic loads on riser deflection. The assessment is based on comparative analyses for the riser displacement, slope and equivalent stress. It is shown that differences in riser deflection due to nonlinearities may be as high as 28% in the maximum displacement, 31% in the lower ball joint angle and 40% in the maximum equivalent stress." @default.
