- W1982483212 abstract "The thermal conductivity κ, and thermoelectric power S, curves as a function of temperature and applied magnetic fields have been presented for the two principal orientations of a large, high-quality, flux grown, twinned YBa2Cu3O7−δ (Y123) crystal having an oxygen content of 6.95±0.02. The overall shape of the κab, κc and Sab, Sc curves, including their general behaviour with magnetic fields, were very similar to those previously reported for Y123 crystals. However, the absolute value of the κab curve above Tc was significantly larger than that previously found even though the peak value at ∼Tc/2 was comparable with other high-quality Y123 crystal results. The absolute value of the κc curve was similar to that previously reported for Y123 crystals, showed a continuous increase of conductivity with temperature and there was the hint of a peak below Tc, but no inflection point at Tc. The application of magnetic fields always decreases the value of the κab curve below Tc and that of the κc curve below 120 K. The resistivity of the crystal over the same temperature range studied was also determined and the data used to discuss the electron and phonon contributions to the total thermal conductivity in the normal state. The Sab curve showed a change in sign for the `foot' region of this overdoped crystal, which is considered significant." @default.
