- W1982819951 abstract "A predicted protein encoded by a cDNA of TaRAN1 shared homology up to 84% to the Ran family. Purified protein expressed in Escherichia coli (E. coli) retains specific GTP-binding activity. It got localized to the nucleus predominantly. The TaRAN1 transcript was expressed more abundantly in young stems and flower buds, little in old leaves in wheat. Fission yeast cells over-expressed and TaRAN1 exhibited a number of novel cell biological phenotypes reminiscent of genome integrity defects. These included elongated and multinucleated cell, G2 cell cycle delay, hypersensitivity to UV. Antisense expression of the TaRAN1 caused Schizosaccharomyces pombe (S. pombe) cells to round up, with highly condensed nucleus, and suppressed the growth rates. The number of nucleomixis and anucleate cells were increased dramatically. The results suggested that TaRAN1 protein might be involved in regulational mechanism of cell division and development and highlighted a role of the TaRAN1 in regulation of genome integrity via maintaining chromatin structures." @default.
