- W1983013591 abstract "Abstract The nucleoprotein components of citrus leaf rugose virus (CLRV) were separated by two cycles of density gradient centrifugation and designated, from slowest to most rapidly sedimenting, TZ, MZ, and BZ. Only the BZ component was infectious, but the addition of either TZ or MZ to BZ preparations increased infectivity. Ribonuclease, but not DNase, abolished infectivity of CLRV nucleic acid preparations. Citrus leaf rugose virus RNA consistently separated into four species when electrophoresed in polyacrylamide gels. The RNA species observed in gels were designated, from slowest to most rapidly migrating, as RNA-1, -2, -3, -4. RNA species 1, 2, and 3 were not infectious alone or in combinations. RNA-4 was not infective alone, but gave high infectivity when added to inocula containing RNA-1 and -2. The BZ component, which separated into two closely spaced zones following centrifugation in shallow sucrose gradients, contained RNA-1 and -2 and small amounts of RNA-3 and -4. The MZ component contained RNA-3 and small amounts of RNA-4. The TZ component contained RNA-4. We suggest that at least RNA-1, -2, and -4 are required for high infectivity." @default.
