- W1983399820 abstract "The amino acid composition of five bacterial haem proteins has been determined, except for tryptophan content. The data obtained allow comparison of typical bacterial cytochromes of c type with the classical cytochrome c of horse heart as well as of yeast. In addition, the variant haem protein of photosynthetic bacteria, which is related to c-type cytochromes, and a copper protein functional in the respiratory chain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa have been analyzed and their amino acid contents compared with those of the c-type cytochromes. In general, it appears that all of the c-type cytochromes are characterized by high lysine content and by the presence of at least one histidine and two cysteine residues per haem. The extreme variation in isoelectric points observed (pH 5-II) appears to be due to increases or decreases in dicarboxylic acid content relative to a fairly constant amount of the basic amino acids." @default.
