W1983463670 abstract "The desire to discover new hydrocarbon reserves and to enhance the recovery rates of existing reserves is driving the development of more accurate subsurface physics modeling. This continual pressure for higher physical fidelity is stimulating massive growth in both data set sizes and algorithmic complexity. So much so, that numerous participants in the field have called out the need to reach exascale computing in order to achieve the capacity and capability required. However, for a variety of technical reasons, this growth is leading to fundamental computational challenges, which must be overcome in order to enable the next generation of seismic analysis, reservoir simulation, and related upstream engineering processes. In this talk, we will discuss the implications of these challenges and how we hope to address them." @default.
