Diez pacientes presentaban hemiplejía izquierda y en 16 casos la etiología del AVC fue isquémica. Las características de la marcha se miden mediante sistema computarizado “Locómetro Satel” que permite el registro del desplazamiento longitudinal en ambos pies durante la marcha, en un trayecto mínimo de 7 metros. Los resultados (media, DE) con y sin ortesis son: velocidad de marcha (m/min): 59,26 (DE 17) y 64,74 (DE 18) (p = 0,021); cadencia de marcha (zancadas/min): 94,6 (DE 20,3) y 91,6 (DE 20,7) (p = 0,004), y longitud zancada (m): 0,68 (DE 0,2) y 0,63 (DE 0,24) (p = 0,027). Cuando analizamos cada pie, consigo mismo, por separado con y sin ortesis, se obtuvieron diferencias significativas en los valores del tiempo de ciclo, tiempo de apoyo total y en la velocidad de balanceo, tanto en el pie del paso normal como en del patológico. Cuando analizamos el indice de simetría no se obtuvieron diferencias significativas en los diferentes valores. En nuestra muestra, el uso de la ortesis antiequino mejora de forma significativa la velocidad de la marcha, la cadencia y la longitud de la zancada, pero no influye en la asimetría de la marcha. Our aim is to objectively determine which aspects of gait (gait speed, rhythm, length of stride, and symmetry of step characteristics) are changed with the use of club foot thermoplastic orthosis in hemiplegic patients. We evaluated 19 patients suffering from post-stroke hemiplegia (mean time post-stroke 46.8 months, SD 23.9) with an average age of 66.94 years (SD 12.4) whose functional level (average FIM) at the time of release from the rehabilitation hospital was 97.1 (SD 17.4). Ten patients presented with left-side hemiplegia, and there were 16 cases of ischemic strokes. Gait characteristics were measured using the computer system “LOCOMETRO. SATEL,” which records longitudinal displacement of both feet during ambulation over a minimum distance of 7 meters. The results (mean, SD) with and without orthosis were as follows: Walking speed (m/min): 59.26, SD 17 and 64.74, SD 18 (p = 0.021); Walking rhythm (steps/min): 94.6, SD 20.3 and 91.6, SD 20.7 (p = 0.004); Length of stride (m): 0.68, SD 0.2 and 0.63, SD 0.24 (p = 0.027). When we compared each foot to itself separately with and without orthosis, significant differences were found in the values of cycle time, total support time, and velocity of swing in the normal and abnormal foot. When we analysed the Symmetry Index, significant differences were not found in the values. In our study, the use of club foot orthosis significantly improved gait speed, rhythm, and stride length, but did not influence gait asymmetry." @default.
