The impetus to develop color perimetry stemmed from early reports of the existence of a relation between color vision and glaucoma [1–4]. Glaucomatous patients as a group tend to have tritan-like defects on foveal tests of color vision [2]. Given that central vision is preserved until the advanced stages of the disease, however, foveal tests are not clinically useful in the early stages of the disease. SWAP was developed to capitalize on the involvement of the short-wavelength–sensitive system in glaucomatous optic neuropathy and to provide a perimetric measure of peripheral function. This review evaluates the role and usefulness of SWAP in clinical practice." @default.
