Twenty-five new species are described and these are Leioseius californicus sp. n., Iphidozercon californicus sp. n., Neojordensia orientalis sp. n., Proctolaelaps myrmestrans sp. n., P. lepidus sp. n., P. hurlbutti sp. n., P. citri sp. n., P. reticulatus sp. n., P. pacificus sp. n., P. peregrinus sp. n., Lasioseius americanus sp. n., L. phytoseioides sp. n., L. mcgregori sp. n., L. fleschneri sp. n., L. matthyssei sp, n., L. krantzi sp, n., L. lanceolatus sp. n., L. drosophili sp. n., L. cynari sp. n., L. dendroctoni sp. n., L. arboreus sp. n., L. subterraneus sp. n., L. meridionalis sp. n., L. multisetus sp. n., and Melichares grandis sp. n. The literature on the ecology of these is reviewed and it is suggested that some species may be of value in regulating the abundance of other mites and small arthropods that are pests.Changes in nomenclature that are introduced are as follows: Proctolaelaps lewisi (Garman and McGregor) and Garmania garmanis McGregor are synonyms of P. bickleyi (Bram). Blattisocius bakeri (Chant) is not a synonym of B. mali (Oudemans)." @default.
