- W1987523434 abstract "In rats of two different strains, glutamate dehydrogenase activity was regularly present in urine. No differences were encountered depending upon the sex of the animals. Glutamate dehydrogenase activity in urine derives from the renal tubular cells. In toxic renal damage (administration of sodium tetrathionate), a statistically significant increase in glutamate dehydrogenase activity of urine occurs. This fact is explained by enzymes from severely damaged tubular cells entering the urine. Concomitantly, a rise in serum glutamate dehydrogenase activity is found. It may be assumed that enzymes from degenerating tubular cells reach the circulatory system. @default.
