- W1987603843 abstract "The influence of antioxidants on the thermooxidation of hydrolytically and anionically prepared polymers of 6-hexanelactam was studied. Oxygen consumption was followed during oxidations and the changes in molecular weight and in the content of carboxyl groups were evaluated. It was found that primary antioxidants based on secondary aromatic amines are efficient stabilizers of the oxidation reactions of polyamide 6. Their effect can be further increased by their combination with a preventative phosphite anti-oxidant. Primary antioxidants based on phenol are virtually ineffective in the oxidation of polyamide 6; under the conditions necessary for their application to the polyamide melt, phenols obviously react and, consequently, their products are unable to react with the amide peroxy radical. Antioxidants of HALS type break the oxidation chain of polyamide 6 after a certain induction period, during which they are oxidized to the N-oxyl form; only this form is able to react with the amide peroxy radical." @default.
