Cleaning, shock hardening, alloying and vitrification of surface films are possible. Changes in microroughness, reflectivity, hardness and corrosion behaviour may be of interest for practical applications. In the present paper CuCr alloys were used to demonstrate that excimer laser irradiation is beneficial for sputtered films. Resistivity measurements of silver- and palladium-based contact materials show that the electrical properties even after exposure to a polluting gas atmosphere can be improved by excimer laser irradiation. The bonding behaviour of lead frames can be improved by some layer-wire combinations." @default.
