- W1987707979 abstract "Evasion of programmed cell death represents one of the hallmarks of cancers that contributes to tumor initiation, progression and treatment resistance. This calls for novel therapeutic concepts to reactivate cell death programs in human malignancies. Since necroptosis represents a regulated form of necrosis that is under the control of defined signal transduction pathways, it offers molecular targets for rational therapeutic intervention. Indeed, there is mounting evidence showing that many currently used anticancer agents can engage necroptotic signaling pathways and thereby elicit cell death in malignant cells. A better understanding of the signaling networks regulating necroptosis in cancer cells is expected to speed up the development of anticancer drugs for therapeutic exploitation of necroptosis for cancer therapy." @default.
