- W198819100 abstract "Nature-like plantations are areas that, by today’s maintenance procedure usually gains low prioritiy and are forgotten. Most nature-like plantations are currently disadvantaged and have in many cases grown up and formed dense, impenetrable and brushwoody green volumes. These green volumes is rarely used, but usually only fills out gap surfaces. With proper care nature-like plantations can become health promoting environments in the increasinglyhardened urban environments. How vegetation systems work and how trees and shrubs interact is dependent on many factors. The main factors are the availability of plant space and sunlight. High shade reduces the growth of most species. To expand the understanding of the factors that affect management implementation a management analysis was contucted. The analysis was based on qualitative interviews in two rounds with representatives from two local authorities and their procurement documents. To anchor the knowledge conveyed inthis thesis case studies in three groves and three curtains were made. Case study areas are given practical suggestions for management measures and explanations of how they can become more valuable elements in urban environments.Common to the case study areas is that management is neglected. All case study areas are in need of qualitative management measures.Often only relatively simple and inexpensive management actions is needed to create much larger recreational values." @default.
