- W1988736682 abstract "Powder materials of yttriumorthoborate coactivated by trivalent bismuth and gadolinium or praseodymium and gadolinium described here have been prepared by solid state reaction. These luminophors crystallize in the vaterite type. Therefore they have a pseudo-hexagonal structure. There are two crystallographically different sites for the cations. In addition to X-ray diffractograms, emission and excitation spectra and spectra of the diffuse reflection of the luminophors have been studied at room temperature along with the influence of temperature and UV radiation on emission of the samples. BiIII and PrIII ions sensitize GdIII luminescence. There is only GdIII luminescence in the emission spectra. The peak of maximum intensity is at 31 888 cm−1. Therefore the luminophors could be used in medicine for therapeutical purposes. @default.
