- W1989413107 abstract "Abstract The reduction and oxidation reactions of the Cu(II)/Cu(O) system have been studied with a rotating gold ring‐disk electrode in 0.2 M sulphuric acid solutions. Two reduction waves R 1 and R 2 are obtained. R 1 is mainly attributed to the underpotential deposition of copper while R 2 is associated with the convective‐diffusional formation of bulk copper metal. Three oxidation (stripping) peaks O 1 , O 2 and O 3 are observed. O 1 at most positive potentials, is thought to result from the oxidation of underpotential copper. The second stripping peak O 2 may originate from the dissolution of copper atoms in direct contact with the underpotential copper, having slightly different properties with respect to the bulk copper atoms. Bulk copper is supposed to be oxidized in the third stripping peak, O 3 ." @default.
