The actual friction data that were collected demonstrate the effects of treatment rate, gel concentration, CO2 quality, proppant concentration, and wellbore depth. This information will help researchers better understand the friction-pressure behavior of CO2-energized fluids and should enhance treatment diagnostics, the design of friction-pressure correlations, and existing friction-pressure correlations. Design of Field Experiment A field experiment has been performed to obtain friction-pressure data for CO2-energized fluid. Knowing that it might be the only chance to gather such data, researchers collected a broad yet detailed data set during the treatment. Well Selection. The field experiment was conducted on Miller Well No. 1-11 in Comanche County, OK. Tubing configuration and well data are provided in Fig. 1. Although the well originally had been completed to about 20,000 ft in the Anadarko basin, it had been recompleted in several stages back up to about 10,000 ft in the Marchand formation because of depleting production. In 1980, the zone was stimulated with 53,000 gal of 70%-quality CO2 foam at 12 bbl/min, and 670 sacks of 20/40-mesh sand.
