- W1989968920 abstract "We develop a novel semi-analytical method to analyse the effects of both linear and nonlinear scattering from multilayer cylindrical structures. We demonstrate the nonlinear control of scattering from a sample nanowire and observe the substantial enhancement of the superscattering due to a local field enhancement. We show that the results of our method match with the output of FDTD approach, is more robust and 10⁵ times faster. Superscattering of light by nanostructures is an effect which occurs when two or more modes of the structure are resonantly excited at a same frequency and cause a considerable enhancement of light scattering (1). The enhanced scattering cross section (SCS) of multilayer nanowires can be employed in various applications such as nanoantennas and solar cells. Local field enhancement inside such nanostructures suggests that it is possible to control their scattering properties using nonlinear effects, when one or more layers of the structure are made of nonlinear materials. Fig. 1(a) shows the geometry of the problem and the incident TM polarized plane wave illuminating from left (magnetic field parallel to the axis of the structure). Direct numerical simulations of nonlinear structures, such as finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD), are possible (2), but as it is demonstrated in this work, they are very time consuming and often do not allow to explore full parameter space. Recently, it has demonstrated that it is possible to analyze cylindrical structures using various approximations such as using perfectly electric conductors, homogeneous structures or" @default.
