- W1990228407 abstract "Abstract Intercapillary distance (ICD) was measured by stop-motion microcinematography in beating rat hearts in situ at various values of arterial pH and PCO2. The former was without effect on ICD. Though extremely high values of PaCO2 appear to evoke a statistically significant decrease in ICD, the effect is too small to be of consequence for the regulation of diffusion distance in the normal animal. These results are in accord with recent work (2) which demonstrates that coronary precapillary sphincters are chiefly controlled by the partial pressure of O2 to which they are exposed." @default.
