- W1990479059 abstract "Abstract The effect of Pb 2+ from a solution on the ethylxanthate adsorption on sphalerite (∼ 13% Fe) in the pH range from 5.0 to 6.0 was examined. For monitoring surface change on sphalerite, infrared attenuated total reflection spectroscopy (ATR-IR) was used and correlated with zeta potential measurements and UV data for the solution. Ethylxanthate ion adsorption on sphalerite is negligible. Bands in the IR spectrum are virtually unobserved. Upon the sphalerite treatment with a Pb 2+ ion solution at pH 5.0–6.0, before KEX addition, the spectra showed lead ethylxanthate bands. Evidently, the Pb 2+ ion had an activating effect on sphalerite KEX adsorption in weakly acidic media. The intensities of the bands are different and depend on Pb 2+ ion and KEX concentration, and on the time of conditioning. The COC lead ethylxanthate bands showed almost always two maxima (at about 1195 cm −1 and at about 1209 cm −1 ) indicating the presence of both monolayer and multilayer forms of lead-ethylxanthate in various proportions, depending on the conditions of the experiments." @default.
