The attractant was evaporated through a roll of filter paper. The evaporation rate was low even during the hot months of the year (6–10 ml per day). The outer surface of the bottle was coated with a sticky material to trap the insects. The new trap, which takes the colour of attractant solution, filled with 3% of Ammonium sulphate, or Buminal®, Dacus bait®, Entomosyl® plus 2% Borax trapped in a 6 month period 1,63, 0,84, 0,77 and 0,59 fold olive flies respectively compared to the McPhail trap, used in weekly intervals with the same attractants. When the outer surface of the new traps was painted yellow the yield was 5,55, 2,13, 3,16, 1,03 fold compared to the McPhail trap. Entomosyl was found to be the best attractant in the McPhail trap and Ammonium sulphate the least. Buminal and Dacus bait were placed in between. No differences were found in the sex ratio and the reproductive status of the attracted females within the four attractants studied. In the period of September to November more females than males were caught with 80 to 90% eggs in their ovaries. Data about other trapped insects were also presented. Zusammenfassung Eine neue Falle von langer Dauer zum Fang von Olivenfruchtfliegen (Dacus oleae [Gmelin]) und anderen Dipteren Eine neue Falle, die aus einer 1,5 Liter fassenden durchsichtigen, mit Anlocklösung gefüllten Plastikflasche besteht, fing die Olivenfliegen etwa 6 Monate lang. Die Anlocklösung wird durch eine Rolle Filterpapier im Inneren der Flasche in die Umgebung verdunstet. Die Verdunstungsrate beträgt unter den heißesten Verhältnissen Griechenlands nur 6–12 ml pro Tag. Die Außenfläche der Flasche ist mit Klebmaterial bedeckt und bildet die Fangfläche der Falle. Die neuen Fallen, gefüllt mit 3% Ammoniumsulfat bzw. Buminal®, Dacus bait® und Entomosyl® plus 2% Borax, fingen in 6 Monaten 1,63mal, 0,84mal, 0,77mal und 0,59mal soviel Fliegen wie die McPhail‐Fallen, die mit den gleichen Anlocklösungen beködert waren. Wurde die Außenfläche der Flaschen gelb gestrichen, fingen die neuen Fallen mit dem gleichen Anlockmittel 5,5mal, 2,1mal, 1,36mal und 1,03mal soviele Fliegen wie die McPhail‐Fallen. In den McPhail‐Fallen waren Entomosyl® das beste und Ammoniumsulfat das schlechteste Anlockmittel. Buminal und Dacus bait lagen dazwischen. Alle 4 Anlockmittel zeigen hinsichtlich des Geschlechterverhältnisses und des Fortpflanzungszustandes der Weibchen keine wesentlichen Unterschiede. Alle Fallen fingen von September bis November mehr Weibchen als Männchen. Die Weibchen waren während dieser Periode 80 zu 90% geschlechtsreif.
