- W1991916829 abstract "In Namibia there are numerous anorogenic alkaline complexes, ranging in age from Early Palaeozoic to Early Tertiary. At least four main provinces can be recognized: (i) the Damaraland alkaline province; (ii) Auas province; (iii) Luderitz alkaline province; and (iv) Kuboos‐Bremem igneous province. The rocks of these complexes include saturated and undersaturated mafic and felsic rocks, carbonatites and kimberlites. In most cases they are ring complexes that represent the deeply eroded remnants of central volcanoes characterized by dominant explosive activity. The Damaraland alkaline province is the largest and, so far, the most important from an economic viewpoint, with substantial resources of W, Sn, REE, U‐Th and phosphate (apatite), and potential exists for Ni‐Cu, PGE and gold in the layered mafic‐ultramafic suites. The other provinces, although less well known, have good mineral potential for REE and phosphates." @default.
