- W1992184462 abstract "The current-voltage (I-V) and spectral response characteristics of homojunction and heterojunction p-i-n solar cells made from amorphous hydrogenated Si were measured during a systematic sequence of light soaking and regenerative annealing treatments. A general similarity in behavior of both types of cells during light soaking indicated that the main damage causing deterioration was likely to be in the i layer. Degradation increased with cell bias during exposure, and was also greater for the longer wavelength response in homojunction cells. Cells were found to recover slowly with annealing at 130 °C. A recently developed mathematical model was applied to the experimental I-V curves at several longer wavelengths, before and after light soaking whilst at short circuit. It was possible to obtain a good fit to the data by incorporating a reduction in average hole diffusion length Lp after light soaking. This indicates that, while various light-induced effects may be present in solar cells as distinct from films, the reduction in Lp appears to be a major factor. The confirmed dependence of degradation rate on cell bias indicated an electric field effect on formation of defect centers." @default.
