The results of the various calibration experiments show large discrepancies between one another. The nature of these discrepancies is investigated. It is shown that a major contributing factor is the internal energy content of the C10H14+. precursor ions prior to excitation. Another important factor is the efficiency of detection of the fragment ions. Also, such calibrations of increases in internal energy should be applied only to results of collision-induced dissociations of ions which were prepared in the same way as for the calibration experiment, and which were studied in an identical apparatus." @default.
