- W1993227989 abstract "Abstract The glass-formation regions were determined in M OCeO 2 P 2 O 5 systems at 1000, 1200 and 1400°C, where M represents Ni, Co, Mn. A study of the physical properties of these glasses shows that the addition of CeO 2 to binary glasses in the M O-P 2 O 5 systems considerably increases the density, refractive index and, especially, the chemical durability of the glasses. The optical spectra were characteristic of Ni 2+ and Mn 2+ predominantly in octahedral, and Co 2+ in tetrahedral coordination. The influence of CeO 2 was observed in the optical spectra of manganese phosphate glasses containing, in addition to Mn 2+ , Mn 3+ and Ce 3+ ions, also Ce 4+ ions formed in the redox reaction between Mn 3+ and Ce 3+ ." @default.
