Photographs and photocopies, slides, overhead projectors, and films have provided many an instructor with concrete images of topics discussed in the classroom. With the advent of the VCR, the advantages of these various media have been to certain extent combined and augmented in one electronic device. The VCR provides instant visuals with the ease of operation of photocopy machine. Like the slide or overhead projector, the television monitor allows the program to be viewed by larger audience. In addition, the VCR provides the sound and action of film, without the disadvantages frequently associated with film projectors (noisy machines, poor soundtracks, film breakage, etc.).
