- W1994421814 abstract "Based primarily on clinical‐experimental studies of adults with hemispatial neglect syndrome, a neurological model has been developed that suggests the existence of a right hemisphere mechanism for lateralized visual hemifield attention. The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of this model as it relates to important neurodevelopmental issues. Ninety subjects were grouped according to three developmental levels (15 males, 15 females per level): 9‐year‐olds, 13‐year‐olds, and 18‐year‐olds. Using a reaction time paradigm, performance ws assessed as it related to the presentation of lateral warning stimulus prior to a central visual stimulus. The results did not provide evidence for a lateralized mechanism for visual hemifield attention. However, length of foreperiod and gender were significant effects. Neurodevelopmental issues are discussed as they relate to possible neural mechanisms for visual hemifield attention." @default.
